Observation

The children then made the observation that if a ramp is high the marble with roll fast and far. If the ramp is low then the marble will move slower and not as far. Mrs. Meyers extended the activity and asked the children to drop the ball and time how long it takes. The children then had a great discussion that talked about gravity. They realized the lower ramp was blocking the gravity. I further read her post and saw the children really did understand this concept because of their drawings. The documentation the children drew really impressed me because it showed their development and further knowledge. Here are some of the examples from the children’s documentation.

In the domain of science and technology, the children communicated and recorded results and findings after constructing things either individually or  in groups (FDELK 2011, 45, p.126). This is seen through the wonderful documentation that the children have created. To read more please visit her blog at http://mrsmyerskindergarten.blogspot.ca
